You’ve been married now for more than a few years. Kids are everywhere. Work is hard. Fights seem to be increasing. Is this what you signed up for? Would you do it again? Would you still say “I do”?
Our marriages display Christ to our children and the watching world. Jesus said that all men will know you are my disciples if you love one another. If that’s true in the church, how much more is that true in a Christian home where both would profess to follow Christ?
And yet, marriages change over time. You have a history together. It’s easy to settle into indiffererence or cynicism. If that’s the temptation, then the book I Still Do is for you.
In today’s podcast, we are going to continue talking with Dave Harvey. In this time together we’re going to be talking about his newest book, which is scheduled to drop in January of 2020, I Still Do: Growing Closer and Stronger through Life’s Defining Moments. I think it will help you do just that. In this conversation we just scratch the surface of the riches that are in this resource as Dave takes us to look at some defining moment that couples that have been married a while go through.
Dave is the president of Great Commission Collective, a church planting ministry in the US, Canada and abroad. He has pastored for 33 years and travels widely, and is a frequent conference speaker. He is the author of When Sinners Say I Do, Am I Called?, Rescuing Ambition, and Letting Go, which was the subject of our previous podcast. Dave and his wife Kimm have four children and four grandchildren and live in southwest Florida.
If you’re in the difficult middle-aged years of marriage, this conversation and resource is for you. It will put definition to situations that you are going through, or will go through. I’ve been married for 31 years and found it very helpful; I wish I’d had it 15 or 20 years ago.
Let’s begin by thinking biblically about how God works and develops those of us who have been married for a few years.
